I am a car guy and I like man cave stuff, when I made this lamp, it was about motor racing history. The early to mid-60s was an iconic period I think for many things music, World conflict and probably one of the most heroic periods in motorsport.
Ferrari a relatively small car manufacturer that was very successful in motorsport was taken on by the might of the Ford Motor company. It was all about the world sports car championship and Henry Ford wanted to win it over Ferrari.
There have been movies and many books written.

Probably the most recognized brand from that time would most likely be the GULF oil brand.
The Ford GT40 from the John Wire Racing team were painted in the Triumph Blue and marigold stripe. After the GT40 the Porsche 917 was painted in the same livery, another successes story on its own.

I designed the lamp with soft edges as the sports cars from that time had flowing body lines and rounded corners.
The 2 stripes down the center represent the GT stripes that many race cars carried as part of their race trim.
All the glass is handmade, the lettering is cut from 3mm aluminium and is laid into the cut glass to give a flush look.
This lamp is why I love handmade glass. The effect of the gulf red glass mixing with the blue in the back has produced an emerald green that looks spectacular.
